Crazy Days

So I have not been doing much, but it still seems like I have no time for life Trying to get all the bills paid takes a lot of work. So Ty is working at NuSkin, Zac is volunteering at the hospital once a week, and Bry is doing what he normally does which is play a lot of sports and he has finally learned to ride his rip-stick. Jared is doing better, although he just found out he has gall stones so it seems like you take the good with the bad and thats all you can do. Jon is working somewhere, and hanging out with his friends at his apartment.
Jared put up the christmas lights, and it looks beautiful. Tomorrow we are going to thanksgiving with Dad and Mom. It is the off year so everyone is going to their inlaws and we have no where to go so Dad and Mom took pity on us and decided to celebrate with us even though they could have gone to any of my siblings houses and not had to cook anything. Well hope the holiday is good for all. Enjoy the ones you are with cause you never know when things will change. This year has taught us that if nothing else. Love the one your with.

life updated

Well things have been kind of crazy around here.
The week after tyson got home he had a missionary named Josue stay with us, he
is a great guy, and going to be a great missionary.
On the seventeenth Zac turned 15 which is kind of crazy to think about. Today he
is going in for braces. Last week he got spacers put in so his mouth has been pretty
sore. Today he also starts his volunteering at the local hospital. Tyson gave his homecoming
talk sunday and then we had a get together after at my parents home. He did a fantastic
job and the spirit that he has is really strong. Today is his 22 birthday, man we are
getting old. It is sad how you feel that age yourself except for the wrinkles, gray hair, and
the occasional aches and pains. Whatever you do don't get old, it is all it is cracked up
to be. Jared is making strides with his health, he still has some sort of a fluid sac they are going to drain on friday but other than that and a little rib pain he is doing fantastic.

My Boy Is Back In Town!

Its kind of crazy that you have joy but it is so much greater when you have a family member return from being away for two years. We are so excited to have him home.
Even though things are the same they are different also, you have to let them have their space because they left a boy and came home a man. A manly man at that he would say. We are all excited though not just me. Especially
Bry, he really enjoys having his big brother home to play with and he makes him carry him around on his shoulders so he can be the tallest boy in the world. It is really quite cute.
Jared is doing better, the tube is slowly coming out but it went a little faster today cause the stitch holding it in place came loose, right now we just have it taped up and hopefully it will hold til the next doctor appointment.
Love to all.

A little good news!

Well things are looking up, we went to the Dr. and the last chest tube is slowly being taken out.
A inch or two a week until it is totally removed. Jared had a little infection in his chest tube that is going to be cleared by slowly removing the tube and as the track it formed closes it will
drain itself therefore clearing the infection as it goes. Jared had a ct scan on wednesday and
everything in his chest looks clear so we are excited about a little good news. The doc also
released his diet to a full diet so he will still be drinking alot of smoothies but he is able to eat
what he wants but taking special care to chew well.
Things are looking up and we are excited about being able to put this trial past us and move on with the next stage of life, whatever it may bring.

Summer's End

As the sun sets, so are the days of our lives. I think I will start planning my move to somewhere tropical on a permanent basis.
If you are on an island you are always on vacation. The weather
is growing cool, the trees are starting to change colors, and I need a vacation in the most serious of ways.
Jared has had one tube removed from the side of his chest, and the other one is being left in cause the smell is rank. The fluid from the one left in is being tested to see if any bacteria grows in the petri dish, so at the start of the work week we should know if he needs to be on another antibiotic. He had a low grade fever last night so he is a bit worried but luckily they left one drain in to rid his body of any infection.
One day at a time, every day is a blessing and we have definitely been blessed even though sometimes it seems like we can't go on.
Ten more days til ty comes home. I am so excited but don't really have enough time to complete everything I want to before his arrival. It seems that life is always like that.

Finally

Who knew sleeping was so fantastic? After three nights with j tube clogs and no sleep we got the tube changed yesterday morning to a bigger tube. So far it seems to be working fantastic, and
hopefully Jared won't need it much longer. Tomorrow is the big H2O day and Jared is so
excited, he lets everyone know that he gets to try drinking water. Ahh the little things in
life are the best. Wish us luck that it goes well and he can start drinking an all liquid diet.
We will be professionals with the smoothie making. Life is Good!

No Place Like Home

No Dorothy we're not in Kansas anymore, but Jared has returned home.
No sleep for the weary so we'll just live on dreary. Have you ever felt claustrophobic well I am sure I will be feeling that soon. We will be home bound for a couple of weeks, but at least we are home. The people at the hospital gave good care but now it is all left up to me for the nursing care, IV antibiotics, tube feeds, and wound care, I never thought I would have to use my nursing skills again so I let all that info leave my brain, along with everything else that I thought I would never use again. By the way only 3 1/2 weeks left until my boy comes home, so life is good. We appreciate the little things in life now. The fact that I can drink Diet Pepsi is a good thing, It is good to have a vice in life brings a little joy. Peace, love and happiness to all. Maybe next post will be fun but I have nothing fun in my brain right now, so this is all you get.

DEJA VU

UPDATE ON JARED AND LIFE WITH THE HINDE'S

HERE WE GO WITH ROUND NUMBER TWO,

IT SEEMS LIKE THAT'S WHAT WERE GONNA DO.

THE TUBES, THE DRAINS, THE INCISIONS TOO.

HE CANNOT LIVE WITH JUST A FEW.

SO ON THE GURNEY THEY WHEEL HIM DOWN,

AND ON TO SURGERY FOR ANOTHER ROUND.

HE REALLY DIDN'T HAVE ANY CHOICE.

AT LEAST THIS TIME HE HAS HIS VOICE.

SO WITH THE BAD WE'LL TAKE SOME GOOD.

PERHAPS THIS TIME WE'LL LIVE AS WE SHOULD.

THIS IS ALL THAT WE MUST DO,

TO MAKE THIS THE LAST DEJA VU.

so this all started Friday night when Jared asked a neighbor about his low grade fever and he said just come to the e r and I will listen to your lungs and check your oxygen saturation, so while there he decided to order a chest x-ray. A couple hours later Dr. Swanson called him back down to the hospital because of some fluid in the lungs, after an MRI and C T scan it was determined that he had an abscess in his chest, near his spine, over the diaphragm, near the heart and aorta, and the lungs. Surgery was needed to clear out all the infection. So at 1:30 Saturday afternoon they took him in to surgery and at about 8:30 pm he was moved up to the ICU. Now he is on the floor and trying to recover. He has not been feeling well and had lots of nausea but they changed medicines yesterday afternoon and he seems to be doing better. Now it is just going to be a long road to recovery, but he is still with us so we feel blessed. Thanks to all for the thoughts and prayers, it means more than you know.

Deep Thoughts

"Obedience with exactness brings phenominal blessings" I don't know who said this but it is something to think about. A little thought goes a long way to helping us to become who we desire to be.

This week in review

I Like this saying, it fits.
So time is just flying by. I can't believe we have been home for a week and half. Zac is on his cruise to alaska for 10 days and hopefully having a great time. I know he is eating alot of different foods. He cruised under the Golden Gate Bridge and said he got some great photos. Bryton is going back to gymnastics after a three week hiatus. School is starting on the 18th and I don't have the nerve to tell Zac yet cause I don't want to ruin his trip.
It is crazy how early they are starting this year.
Jared had his g tube removed on sunday by the neighbor, so now he is tube free. That is so fantastic cause it was bothering him anyway.Well, we just take things one day at a time and that is about all any of us can do. Hope all is well with everyone else.

ODE TO RAISIN BRAN FLAKES

They say that eating bran flakes
is especially good for the health
It looks wonderful while in the Bowl
Just don't put it in your mouth.
While eating a bowl, my son in law
split his esophagus in two places
he yelled to people, call 911
and he was off to the races.
paramedics rushed him to the hospital
they gave him every test
he was then life flighted to another town
where they were equipped to handle the rest.
before surgery they lose about 30%
and 30% when they are thru
the other 40% of them
have tubes coming out the kazoo.
in the little intestine they have a tube
so he can drink and eat
nothing can go in the stomach or throat
for the patient it's not so great.
there's tubes in both sides of the chest
and one that is in the heart
one in the bladder and one in the arm
and that is just the start.
there are probably 12 tubes in all
that's how they kept him alive
he had no voice to speak with
his will helped him to survive.
after 3 weeks in the hospital
and one in a room across the street
they finally released him to fly away
where being with family was sweet.
he still has one more tube in him
so there's another surgery to come
but he is just so grateful
that he is in his home.
so when you're thinking of breakfast
take time while you decide
if you choose a bowl of raisin bran
you might end up on the other side.

Jared and Bry Recovering

So I just wanted to post a photo of Jared so that you can all see that he is looking better. Recovery is slowly progressing and it is going to be a while until he feels up to doing things
but he is looking well, and we are so happy and blessed to have him here with us.
The prayers and fasting of many are why he looks so good. We have all been so blessed so we will just take it one day at a time and be thankful he looks as good as he does.

Saturday, July 19, 2008

So that was one crazy adventure but now luckily we are home in our own beds and so happy to be there. We surprised Bry when we came home and he was as happy to see us as we were to see him. This is what his eyes looked like on friday night but they were worse when I first saw him and apparently they were worse than this, poor kid, little by little he is getting better. I missed him so much and am so happy to be home with him. Better days ahead for the Hinde's. Thanks again to all who have helped us, we love you all.

Yahoo, We're going home.

This picture is of "The Keeper of the Plains" this is where the
Arkansas river on the left and the Little Arkansas river on the right come together. This was done by Blackbear Bosin in 1974 for the people of Wichita.
So the Doctor took out the tube in Jared's neck and the PEJ tube into his intestines and said we can leave so Charlotte is setting things up, "she has been awesome" and we will be leaving at 4:22 in the afternoon, I will leave this place happily except maybe for the mudslides which are deeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllliiiiiiiiiiiiiiicccccccccciiiiiiiiiooooouuuuuuuusssssssss, did I mention that.
Thanks to all those who have taken care of things at home for us, we really appreciate it, and mom and dad for taking care of Bry. Thank you to all the weeders that is the good part about being here, now we don't have to do it.

Our Wichita Home

This is where we live, it is fun for the whole family, at least the three of us here.
Jared, Stacy, and Zac.

Sign on every building! This is the local soup kitchen that feeds all the needy people.
As you can see by the signs we are not in the safest area of town.

Sick Little Buddy

So little Bry is sick with the adenovirus and last night had a
fever of 103.9. I called him and he begged me to come home.
I said in about a week I can come home and he said while breaking
down and sobbing, I don't need you in a week I need you now.
If that doesn't just make break down and cry yourself.
Grandma E asked him what was bothering him the most, was it his
eyes that are red and his eyelashes are stuck together, was it the fever, the throwing up? His reply "I just miss my mom, and I miss
my dad, and I even miss Zac and his bugging me, and when he gets home I am going to let him
bug me alot. Poor kid, I wish I were there to hold him and make him feel better, he is so sweet
and concerned about us, and last night was the first time he broke down while he has been
away from us. Hopefully time will fly this week and we can come home. Lets all pray for that.

The Plight of the Raisin Bran Eater

So This is the reason for the photos in case anyone doesn't know.
So Jared was told to eat better by his better half, well sort of. So Jared was
working in Salina KS on a hail storm, he was eating some raisin bran in the hotel lobby,
that he was staying in and he perforated his esophagus, he was taken by ambulance to a
Salina ER and they did many tests, They decided that they couldn't take care of him there so they lifeflighted him to Wichita. They did emergency surgery and
Many tubes were placed, a neck tube
three chest tubes and a stomach peg tube and an intestinal pej tube.
plus others. He spent several days in the ICU and then some on the main
floor. Over two weeks were spent in the hospital and now he
resides with Zac and I in the Ronald McDonald house next to the
hospital.
well things are progressing from there.

Green and Awesome

summer adventure

No one ever plans to go to Wichita, it just happens.
This is not a place for vacations unless you want to
go to bible school.
Jared is progressively getting better and if all
goes well we can go home. Yahoo.

Zac and I went to the Universe Within, the Human body
exibit with real bodies, it was very interesting, and
totally creepy at the same time.

Tyson comes home in two and a half months.
He is doing amazing, and Jon is suppose to
go to Arizona for more training with the national
guard in August.

Bry is keeping g and g busy with all his summer
activities, and being sick.
